ABCs 4 SLPs Ice Cream Monsters

There are so many book applications on the market for the iPad, but not many address social skills. Ice Cream Monsters, a story written and narrated by Erik X. Raj M.S. CCC-SLP, focuses on the social skill of understanding that everyone is created different and should be treated with respect. In addition, the book is repetitive which is great for students with special needs and similar to the repetition of social stories. Erik is on a mission, to make sure that every child is included and has high self-esteem, and he will bring you to Mars (or should I say Planet Amazing Yummy) to make children smile! Continue reading for my review of the application and a giveaway!

ABCs 4 SLPs: A is for Angry Birds - Using Angry Birds Board Games in Therapy

ABCs 4 SLPs Angry Birds Board Games

If you have/work with children or own an iPod/iPad, you know what Angry Birds is. I have not met anyone who did not like the game Angry Birds. Many SLPs and therapists have used Angry Birds images on worksheets and board games that they have created. However, Rovio recently contacted Teachers Pay Teachers to state that there were some copyright violations and requested that all Angry Birds worksheets be taken down from Teachers Pay Teachers. You must always be careful when creating your own worksheets to be aware of copyright laws.

Anyhow, Angry Birds is not only an application - they now have three board games and a card game available for purchase! You can buy them at Target/Meijer/Walmart or online at Continue reading to see how I use Angry Birds board games in speech-language therapy!

ABCs 4 SLPs Articulation, Phonology, and Apraxia of Speech Application Features Comparison List

Once I purchased my iPad, I spent a lot of time evaluating articulation, phonology, and apraxia of speech applications to decide which applications would best help my students in therapy. This way, others would be able to decide which application(s) to purchase. With limited budgets and so many applications to choose from, I hope this application list helps you.
